I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. (Psalms 82:6 KJV)
A few years ago, I learned something extremely powerful that completely changed the way I thought about my life as a Christian. It is a simple, but potent truth; I am the offspring of the unlimited God. The scripture above uses the word “children” to describe us, meaning that we are like Him! The ERV Bible puts this excellently, “Then God said, “Now let’s make humans who will be like us. They will rule over all the fish in the sea and the birds in the air. They will rule over all the large animals and all the little things that crawl on the earth.” So God created humans in his own image. He created them to be like himself. He created them male and female.” (Genesis 1:26, 27 ERV).
Being made in the likeness of God grants us an extraordinarily vast capacity for creation. This is displayed when the people of Babylonia attempted to build a tower so tall that it would reach the heavens. When God saw the structure that was being built, He made a remarkable statement, “And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.” (Genesis 11:6 KJV). Notice that God didn’t say, “almost nothing will be restrained from them”. He said NOTHING! This lets us know the extent of what can be achieved with the human imagination.
The Eiffel Tower, Mount Rushmore, the pyramids of Egypt, Burj Khalifa (the world’s tallest building), the airplane, the light bulb…all products of the minds of men. Just imagine what more can be done! A superhero that certainly reflects the limitless creativity of the mind is Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man. Stark is described as one of the most brilliant minds in the Marvel Universe and is an expert in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, and electrical engineering. As a 17 year old MIT graduate, it has been evident from his youth that Stark is extremely gifted. However, it wasn’t until he began to learn the error of his ways that his greatest displays of genius emerged.
As he grew into adulthood, Tony Stark amassed great wealth as a manufacturer of highly advanced weapons technology which was often used by the U.S. government. After being captured by terrorists and taken prisoner to make weapons of mass destruction, Stark created a powered suit of iron in secret and escaped. While building his armor, he also created a special electro-magnet to pull away the shrapnel that remained close to his heart due to an explosion that occurred during his capture. This traumatic ordeal led Stark to use his brilliance and technology to protect the world instead of continuing to fuel war efforts.
The first creation that Stark built to elude his captors resulted in the first of many models of the famous Iron Man armor. Over the years, Stark has upgraded his armor to perform a wide range of feats. Some of the main functions that are most commonly seen in all of his models are flight, amplified strength, rocket launchers, energy blasters, and a special display in the helmet that allows him to gather information about practically anything he looks at.
Other specialized versions of the Iron Man armor include:
-An armor designed to travel deep underwater
-An armor to travel into space
-An armor to withstand blows from super strong foes like The Hulk and Thor
-An armor that utilizes nanotechnology to merge with Starks biology, enabling him to bring forth the armor from his bones
The list goes on and on, but the point is this; the creative capacity of the imagination has no limits. Just imagine, you could very well produce the next medical, technological, financial, or industrial breakthrough! You are only limited by what you can see in your mind. God challenged Abraham to see beyond his physical eyes so that he could obtain the entire world (Genesis 13: 14-16). What can you see?
