Hello everyone! First and foremost, I give glory and honor to God for giving me the gift of writing. I thank him even more that people are being blessed because of it.
Today I want to discuss something that God put in my heart. In my last post from this series I was highlighting the importance of knowing who you are in Christ and the benefits that come along with it. It’s great that we get to live a miraculous life, but what are we doing with that life? Too many people think that God is just sitting in Heaven waiting to grant every request that they have for themselves. I tell people all the time, God is not a genie. Of course it’s good that you’re grateful for the things He’s doing in your life but the point of focus should be what you are doing for Him. He didn’t make your life beautiful for the sole purpose of being happy in all of your blessings. If that’s all He wanted for you then you would have just gone into Heaven the moment you received Christ.
As followers of Christ, we have a calling to fulfill. Jesus told his disciplines, “Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15). As a Christian, you have been called to bring the message of salvation to those who are in need of it. Some may surprised or even offended to hear this but the nice you do in this life: donating money to charity, improving the government or economy of the country you live in, stopping violence in your neighborhood won’t mean as much to God unless you are saving souls in the process. Why? Because the purpose of the gospel goes beyond the world’s physical needs. The truth is that all of the worlds problems would be remedied through saving the souls of men. Am I devaluing the effort that people put forth to make a change in this world? Of course not. However, it’s vital for people understand that man is a spirit being that God seeks to be in oneness with. If you have not saved his soul to achieve that purpose, you have not truly made a lasting impact in his life.
Although spreading the gospel and winning souls is God’s top priority, there are many other ways to serve Him that you should desire to partake in. Think about the ministry you belong to. What is the vision of that ministry? What is required to accomplish the goals and needs there? Choose to be a part of it. Thanking God for what He’s done for you doesn’t mean anything if you don’t do His word and His word calls for you to serve. At the end of the day, you’re going to have to give account to Him. Will you have anything to say?
Jesus said “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15). Decide that you’re going to devote your time, money, energy, and any other resources that God has blessed you with to serve Him. As you do these things, you will begin to notice that a special grace has been added to your life. Romans 8:28 says “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are the called according to His purpose.” That means the more you serve God, the more His grace works in you to ensure that every area of your life is taken care of so that you won’t be distracted by life’s daily challenges. I have personally experienced this in my own life. At work, at home, and even among my brothers and sisters in Christ, there are certain issues that I never have to worry about because I’m about my Father’s business. Jesus said, “…my meat is to do the will of him who sent me, and to finish his work.” Develop the faithfulness of Jesus towards the things of God and I can assure you that you will live a most glorious life.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33)
Thank you for reading and God bless 🙂
